Dear Programme Participant,
The Allan Gray Orbis Foundation is sad to inform you of the passing of our Founder and Patron, Dr. Allan Gray, this morning. He was a visionary, successful businessman, leader and philanthropist and these characteristics informed much of his work in securing a future, not only for investment clients but also for the programme participants of his many philanthropic organisations.
His vision has led to a long-term investment in the potential of young entrepreneurial talent, through a well thought out comprehensive support programme. Dr Gray’s vision and long-term thinking, along with his ability to understand systemic issues and create solutions, have been the basis from which the Foundation and his other philanthropic endeavours have grown.
Mr. Gray had planned meticulously for this eventuality and as such, his vision for the Foundation will continue as it has.
While we await further communication from the Gray family, we request that you respect the family’s privacy at this time of bereavement. Please feel free to channel your messages of support here we will plan for its integration into a fitting tribute.

While we mourn his loss, we can all rest knowing that his vision has secured a future for the Foundation’s beneficiaries. The onus now rests with us to carry his vision forward where young entrepreneurs and leaders create the lasting change of a prosperous South Africa. Mr Gray’s spirit of significance and humility will live on in the Foundation and the more than 1000 young people supported by it through our various programmes.
