Jalal joined the Allan Gray Orbis Foundation in November 2018 as the Director of the Association Programme. He has been part of the Foundation’s initiatives since 2010 where he served as both a mentor and IVC business coach.
Jalal is passionate about supporting and developing entrepreneurs and is involved in numerous business coaching and mentorship initiatives. He is a venture coach for both Startup bootcamp and Seedstars and was selected as the top business coach by Seedstars global in 2020.
I have been with the foundation for over 10 years. I started as a Scholar Development Officer in the Scholarship programme, working with the learners in Gauteng schools, and then spent time in the Fellowship Programme before taking on the role of Community Manager in the Association. I have led the Careers, Leadership, and Community Portfolios in the Team.
You may not know that I used to be an Executive Headhunter, sourcing Executive talent locally and globally for corporates.
I have been the Ventures Manager for two years and enjoy meeting new Fellows every day. I have worked with very early-stage entrepreneurs and grassroots innovators across South Africa since 2014.
I am also a mom to a bubbly 4-year-old, so between my time building great partnerships for Fellow businesses, I am mommying.
I look forward to finishing my Master’s in Technology and Innovation Management at the end of 2023.
I have been with the Foundation for 8 years with my first role being the Frontline assistant for 6 years before moving over to being the Association Officer. During my time as a Frontline assistant, I’ve also done some work in other functions i.e. Fellowship and Public Affairs and Communications known as PAC. I hold a BA degree in Strategic Brand Communication.
I am proud of being a part of Mr. Gray’s legacy. I am passionate about helping the less fortunate and as a result, I am part of a feeding scheme in my community. I enjoy travelling.
